Information On Baptisms

Baptism is one of the two sacraments recognised by the Church of Scotland, the other being the Sacrament of Holy Communion.
In the case of infant baptism the Church expects at least one parent or other close family member either to be a member of the Church or willing to become a member. In the baptismal service those appropriate adults profess their own faith and promise to give the child a Christian upbringing.

Please contact the minister who will be delighted to meet with you and talk through the meaning of Baptism and answer any questions you may have.

Baptisms are normally conducting during the Sunday morning services. There are no set dates for baptisms. However, please do not ‘fix’ a date before confirming with the minister that a particular date is suitable – remember there are three places of worship within Strathaven Trinity and the minister cannot be in each one every Sunday!

There is no fee for a Baptism.
