Our first Christmas together!
It’s hard to imagine that this will be our first Christmas as Trinity Parish Church. On the one hand it doesn’t seem that we have been united very long… and on the other the union has gone so well it seems that we have been together for many years rather than months.

As we travel through Advent to Christmas and then into the New Year there will, I am sure, be some new customs and traditions to get used to. However, the message is just the same: “For God so loved the world that he sent His only begotten Son.” We celebrate the birth of our Saviour, the long awaited for Messiah, Jesus Christ.

This is not only a wonderful time of year, it also presents us with a fabulous opportunity to share with our communities the reason why this season is so special. Our decorations (inside and out), our services and carols all help to communicate the Good News that the angels first shared with the shepherds on that first Christmas "This very day, in David's town, your Saviour was born, Christ the Lord." The shepherds went to Bethlehem to see for themselves, to experience for themselves, this wonderful event. Each advent as we approach the stable may we rediscover and experience this wonderful event in our own lives and in the lives of those around us. The birth of Christ has changed the world and it can change our lives.

I wish you all a super Christmas and hope that 2019 turns out to be all that you hope for.

With every good wish,
Shaw J Paterson
